I agree with Jim. Lighten up, Davey D. The MVC has grown by leaps and bounds lately. It said a lot last year that it was an all-MVC final in the North, with Central over Lowell in the toughest game of the Raiders’ tourney run.

Hey everyone, David Willis here. Tomorrow (Thursday), from 6-8 p.m., I’ll be checking in to talk local hockey. Feel free to stop by with thoughts on Central Catholic surging to a possible Super 8, the stellar play of teams like Pinkerton and Andover and whatever else you want.

OK, I’m becoming annoying (some would say already been there for a while, that’s fine) and repetitive, but I have to go on the attack about the hoop scene in the Granite State and plead for the NHIAA to do something about it. That pin drop you can hear in 90 percent of the gyms [...]

Caught up with a physically-menacing Ronnie Rosario at the Haverhill boys hoop game Tuesday night. Rosario looks like a man, stress that word man, on a mission. He’s bulked up some, looks dynamite and has clearly hit the weight room hard as his senior season behind the plate for the Hillies approaches. After thinking he [...]

Wow. Fifteen minutes talking to one of the most polished, most genuine, intelligent and gentlemanly 15-year-olds i have come across in nearly 20 years at the newspaper. With all the rumors circling around Georgetown High sophomore Jaymie Spears, I made a special trip to Wilmington where the Royals were readying to challenge the CAL large [...]

It’s never too early to start thinking about the state EMass boys hoop tournament, which is now less than a month away. Right now, the region can boast three automatic qualifiers, that is teams who’ve wrapped up the magic number of 50 percent wins. They are: Central Catholic … 11-1 thanks to Sunday’s 32-point win [...]

I’ll start the conversation with a new, upated Fantastic Four for the week. Never in my life would I have thought 2-3-4 would be so tough. How can I in clear conscience leave Andover No. 2 after the loss Tuesday night at Dracut? Yes, they were on the second day of a back-to-back. Yes, it [...]

The Spalding HoopHall Classic announced the three all-tourney teams from the weekend festivities out at Springfield. Again, allow to drill this point home, this is a must-see for the true hoop junkie as long as it remains such a high caliber event. Central Catholic’s Carson Desrosiers was named to the third team for his 23-point, [...]
