Longo makes his picks for the week. Are your Astros in trouble?
Posted in Uncategorized on Oct 30th, 2008 Comments
I’m down eight games and need to make some noise ASAP.
Here goes:
Friday’s Games
Methuen at Central
Flip a coin folks. I can’t figure out either club. Central looked like it was on cruise control against Tewksbury on offense, but played spirited defense until the final 12 minutes.
Methuen thumped Tewks but kind of shot itself in the foot [...]
Grid Picks
Dave Dyer
Is it just me, or does every game seem like a big one for both Central Catholic and Methuen?
As these Merrimack Valley Conference rivals battle to move up in the league standings, they seem to have a tough game every week. Tomorrow night at Lawrence Stadium, their paths collide in what is truly [...]
Need some help from the Pelham folks, now!!!
Posted in Football, Hector Longo on Oct 28th, 2008 Comments
Pelham people,
I was just wondering if any of the Pelham High backers had a. Stats from the Bow and Brady games or b. Game videos from either that I could take the stats from.
I do this for all the players, but in this case, especially Bruce Vieira, who will go down as one of the [...]
New Longo top 10 … Georgetown over Pinkerton? It could happen. Check out the logic behind the argument Astros.
Posted in Uncategorized on Oct 28th, 2008 Comments
The Pinkerton lobby is too much. Too much.
You folks come off all high and mighty when defending your turf against the little guys, Pelham and Georgetown.
Then you reverse the rules when your state’s teams lay an egg in the Bay State.
BG, big, bad BG lost to Billerica, who was last seen down 40 at halftime [...]
By the way, here’s my pick in Billerica-Dracut and why.

It’s not a game with any of our teams involved, but I wouldn’t be a sportswriter if I couldn’t shed an opinion on Billerica-Dracut.
As hinted at earlier, I’ll go with the Middies for two reasons.
1. Senior QB vs Frosh QB … As good as LaSpada is, and I’ve seen him, he’s Mike Mastrullo revisited when [...]
Note: Dave Dyer had Lawrence over NA last night. Here are the rest of his choices.
TEWKSBURY (2-4)
at Central Catholic (3-3)
Both teams have been impressive at times and sluggish at other times. Tewksbury is coming in on a high, having blanked Chelmsford, 21-0, last week behind Joel Altavesta’s 189 yards and three TDs. The loser of [...]
It’s a huge, turning point week for a handful of programs.
As many as half-dozen teams face gut checks, or decisive games this week, huge tests.
Here goes the quest to get back in the game.
Thursday
North Andover at Lawrence … North Andover, struggling and rebuilding, has to be looking at this one like one it can [...]
Here’s the new Longo top-10. Yes, I’m ranting again.
Posted in Football, Hector Longo on Oct 22nd, 2008 Comments
The Monday night massacre in Foxboro set the Longo Express back time wise, almost as much as dave Dyer’s picks this weekend, that pushed his lead back to nine wins for the year. I will not surrender, although, chopping 1.5 games off his lead a week will be tough.
Remember, this week starts a day earlier [...]
Help Patriot Heath Evans and maybe win a spectacular prize!
Posted in Hector Longo on Oct 21st, 2008 Comments
Help Heath, help yourself
The Heath Evans Foundation is sponsoring a benefit raffle, but you’d better hurry if you’d like to help out.
Evans foundation, which aids sexually abused children, is raffling off an incredible package. For $10 per ticketchance, you and five friends could attend the upcoming, October 28, Boston Celtics opener at the Garden against [...]
