OK, so I went 12-6, didn’t show enough faith in Lawrence and showed a little too much faith in North Andover.
Oh well, the deficit is 3 as Dave Dyer, now 29-11 to my 26-14, had a brilliant week. Great job, Duffy, but it’s early.

10 observations from Week 3:

1. Everett is still Everett, and despite the fact that Dracut followers seem to believe the MVC is there for the taking, it’s still wide open.
2. Unless, Central can open things up with a little speed at the edge, teams will pile up in the box to stop the Raiders.
3. Gritty win by Lawrence at the Port. Ramon Heredia came to play at just the right time. No team needs a week off more than the recuperating Lancers.
4. 68 points out of Salem. I know Memorial is weak, very weak, weaker than weak, but …
5. Tough to figure the Ranger loss this week, especially after Malden was handled by Haverhill and Lawrence.
6. Londonderry and Pelham sure, Timberlane a surprise but OK … Now, name the region’s only other undefeateds. Phillips, Georgetown and North Reading. When’s the last time we’ve only had six unbeatens with a week to play in September?
7. At about 160 pounds, he’s not exactly physically imposing, but St. John’s junior Brendon Felder is absolutely the real deal. Fast, elusive, tough to bring down, he’s a true difference maker.
8. Who the heck is going to win the CAL large? 0-3 Masco? 2-0 Wilmington? 2-1 Lawrence? 1-1 Pentucket? This is one of the strangest years I can remember in the CAL, and things haven’t started yet.
9. I’m starting to believe that Georgetown can make the step up into the CAL small and truly factor.
10. Hats off to Haverhill, even in defeat, that was a gritty effort against CM.

The new Longo top 10:

1. Pinkerton (2-1) … Bring on some real teams, por favor.
2. Londonderry (3-0) … I know you guys love that offense, but I just can’t bear to watch, especially when the QB does that spinny thing.
3. Timberlane (2-1) … Pinkerton grad Jamie Staten of Channel 9 says Derek Furey might be the best player in the state. I’m not arguing.
4. Pelham (3-0) … Although Jamie, have you ever heard the name, Bruce Vieira?
5. Central Catholic (1-1) … Foxboro will be another serious test.
6. North Reading (2-0) … Still perfect.
7. Georgetown (3-0) … Ditto
8. Andover (1-1) … BC High is as tough an opponent as you can tackle, outside of Everett.
9. Salem (2-1) … Gati’s grinders taking care of business.
10. Lawrence (2-1) … When Heredia plays like he did this week, the Lancers can play with anyone on their slate.

you are completely underestimating amesbury; let's not forget that georgetown really hasn't played "anybody" yet; amesbury has beaten 2 "larges".

Helloooooooo-Amesbury has beaten 2 LARGES; also, both of their running backs were names players of the week by the Daily News.
Amesbury has also tallied up 72 points in only 2 games.
Burrell is averaging 110 yards per game; Johnston 105.
The team of Amesbury, and in addition to that, Burrell and Johnston are all within the top 5 for rushing yards and points in the state for D3A..

First off, it looks like the Large division is in a state of flux, so I wouldn't go bragging about those two just yet.
That said, the Indians will be tested, at least two weeks from now, by Lawrence.

You do a great job with this site, but could you cease with the notion of ranking Timberlane and Pelham (and Georgetown in the hard copy version) ahead of Central, Andover, and Salem. Or is the ranking based solely on record? Btw, next week's Pinkerton-Londonderry game is clearly one of the best games in New England that weekend. Again, nice job overall.
