Dyer goes 7-2, and i go 6-3 on the grid picks.
Time to press I guess. Just kidding.
Thoughts on the past weekend?
Ouch, Lawrence really got beat up on their home turf against Malden, which suffered a couple major injuries of its own.
Coach Mike Yameen could be down four starters on defense, including three linebackers.
Central coach Chuck Adamopoulos reports his moose fullback, Zack Latrell, won’t be 100 percent either.
Hmmm.
Friday night has the makings of a special event. Let’s hope the folks with connections to both schools turn out and treat this intra city rivalry with the respect it deserves.
Getting back to Lawrence for a second. At times, the Lancers look like they’re one bad pitch away from self-annhilation. The defense is on constant back-pedal, and then, well…
And then Ramon Heredia lobs a perfect bomb to Mike Calzetta for a TD, turning the game around.
Reviewing that film, Yameen had to love what he saw out of junior linebacker Harvey Blanco. The kid was all over the field Friday night. And Blanco is a huge part of the offense, too.
We’ll see if Lancer wideout Alex Andrews can get himself eligible for the game.
Andrews has been cramming the makeup work, in an effort to get eligible. He’s a huge weapon, again on both sides of the ball.

All totaled up in NH, it was 5-4 for the bigs, in the D1-D2 crossover weekend in NH.
That said, it was BG, Exeter and Dover sweeping the top three matchups for the D2 crowd.
The competition was good. Now, it’s time for the NHIAA folks to admit their mistake and blow up the current system.
Six divisions in New Hampshire? What?
Nope, the time has come for some open-minded thinking up in Concord. Enough with the Mass. way of more champs and more titles.
Why not go back to the older route, or something with a twist?
Combine D1-and-D2, D3-and-D4 and D5-and-D6.
Play with geographical divisions taking over.
A newer D1 look could be:
A> Salem, Londonderry, Pinkerton, South, North, Guertin
B> Timberlane, Dover, Spaulding, Exeter, Concord, Winnacunnet
C> Keene, Central, Memorial, West, Alvirne, Merrimack
Three division winners go plus the next best record to the playoffs.
Play your five in-division, plus three crossovers that count, then you could add non-leaguers if you wish.
With six divisions in NH, the Divisional championship gear and trophies had better not use the words “state champ” That would be almost lying.

Rankings, rankings, everybody loves rankings. The E-T has its Fab 5, Rallynorth.net has its power rankings. Here’s Hector Longo’s top 10 in the Eagle-tribune readership this week.

1. Central Catholic (0-0) … What’s not to like, the Raiders are undefeated and untested.
2. Pinkerton (0-1) … Was that Brian O’Reilly’s club using the Spread offense against BG? The folks in Delaware must be livid right now. Oh heck, i say the whole A-gun thing was a ruse, and the Stros go back to Wing-T when it starts for real in D1
3. Pelham (1-0) … The Keene Sentinel had the Pythons No. 1 in the state … THE ENTIRE STATE, ALL DIVISIONS … last week. Wow!
4. North Reading (1-0) … 18 players and you beat pentucket. You deserve it boys.
5. Londonderry (1-0) … Weren’t all of Winnacunnet’s real players working the Seafood Festival Friday night? I’m not a true believer just yet. Beat Salem and we’ll talk.
6. Salem (1-0) … As good as Keene looked, Salem found a way to win. That was a good sign for a team with two returning starters.
7. Lawrence (1-0) … Baby steps Lancers. Then again, do you believe in miracles? We’ll see Friday night.
8. North Andover (0-0) … Could be the sleeper team in the region. A true test looms against Andover.
9. Andover (0-0) … I just don’t know enough about the Warriors.
10. Georgetown (0-0) … Espo shoots, scores! Sorry Joe, but I loved your uncle Phil when he led the Bruins to two Stanley Cups. I have to overuse the reference.
