Chelmsford at Andover … On the baseball field, Chelmsford just never beats Andover. But it’s the reverse in football. Weather problems favor the traditional bigger, plodding Lions. As a friend of mine once told me, always bet the heavy greyhounds on a sloppy track.
Bruce’s boys 26, Mags’ Warriors 14
Londonderry at West … I don’t give [...]

OK, so I went 12-6, didn’t show enough faith in Lawrence and showed a little too much faith in North Andover.
Oh well, the deficit is 3 as Dave Dyer, now 29-11 to my 26-14, had a brilliant week. Great job, Duffy, but it’s early.
10 observations from Week 3:
1. Everett is still Everett, and despite the [...]

It was an easy decision to make, Janice Zenevitch said.
Boston College, which originally offered her daughter Katie a full scholarship over the winter, re-offered in June. New coach Sylvia Crawley, who replaced Cathy Inglese after she resigned in April, hit it off with the Central Catholic center right away.
“Mom, this is so right,” Katie told [...]

A source close to Central Catholic hoop all-scholastic Katie Zenevitch has her giving a verbal commitment to Boston College.
Quite a score for BC, which has tapped into the local talent over the years, including Masco’s Brianne Stepherson and the reigning ACC rookie of the year Stephanie Murphy or Londonderry.

Both Dave Dyer and I are knotted at 14-8 through two weeks of action after a rough and tumble week 2.
Looking forward to this week’s slate. Here goes:

Coach Ricky Nault ran off the names of the Division 1 schools bouncing in and out of the Valley to get an up close look at Carson Desrosiers.
arizona state, Tulsa and Marquette are among the last wave of suitors for the 6-10 forward. Desrosiers, remember, is still only a junior.
His senior teammate, Billy Marsden, has [...]

If I didn’t portray it in today’s Eagle-Tribune enough, you have to give it up for Lawrence and Central for the show last night.
Central won, but I’m telling you, if Lawrence can find a way to get healthy, the Lancers are very dangerous. the good thing is the injury to Harvey Blanco doesn’t look too [...]

OK, Week 2 for many, Week 1 for some.
And I know I’m on top of my game. Here’s a look at my thoughts on the upcoming action.
Friday
Central Catholic at Lawrence … The winner is the city if the fans turn out for this one like they should. The loser, all of you who know you [...]

Dyer goes 7-2, and i go 6-3 on the grid picks.
Time to press I guess. Just kidding.
Thoughts on the past weekend?
Ouch, Lawrence really got beat up on their home turf against Malden, which suffered a couple major injuries of its own.
Coach Mike Yameen could be down four starters on defense, including three linebackers.
Central coach Chuck [...]
