The fall high school season is amazingly close, but before we tear into some football news, we’ll do a little bit of cleanup work with some news and notes.
First off, from the baseball diamond.
A pair of Andover righties, John Farrell and Shawn Carlson, stole the show at the recent Lynn Invitational tournament over the weekend. And that news is from more than one source.
Farrell, who by the way has already committed to pitch at Division 1 William and Mary, was consistently up around 90 on the radar gun.
Teammate Shawn Carlson turned all kinds of heads, topping out at 93 on the radar gun. He has not made a move college wise just yet.
Also out of Andover, St. John’s Prep senior-to-be Mike Yastrzemski is supposed to be leaning heavily to Vanderbilt. Captain Carl’s grandson will reportedly make his official to Nashviille within weeks.
The rumor mill also has Haverhill catcher Ronnie Rosario verbally committing to Southern New Hampshire University. The Eagle-Tribune All-Star has confirmed that as fact. although there will certainly be some pro scouts looking to change that fact.
SNHU is reportedly high on Hillie teammate Taylor Robinson’s list as well.

Congrats to my niece, Elizabeth Mulroney, for choosing to continue her cross country career at Keene State College this fall. The former two-time Commonwealth Conference champion at Presentation of Mary Academy, Elizabeth is in good hands at KSC. I’m expecting big things from her as she gets pushed by the collegiate competition. Way to go Lizzie! Good Luck!

The Eagle-Tribune’s Mike McMahon did a heck of a job covering the region and the nation as to where the local contingent of college footballers will be performing.
He missed a couple names, though, on the incoming frosh class.
Lawrence’s Jesus Moore has landed at Fitchburg State and could command a starting spot this fall after a prep year at Holderness.
Greater Lawrence Tech Super Bowl heroes Nate Adames and Victor Sosa will play at Bridgewater while former Reggie Juan Franco is headed to Worcester State.
Surely, there are others out there, who are playing football this fall. If you’ve got them, drop them in a comment so we can give them their due.
