First and foremost had a good talk with the championship coach Marc Pelletier after his club beat Arlington.
Marc made a couple good points.
“The MVC is always a great training ground. The five teams still alive (CC, Andover, HAV, lowell and Tewks) is a testament to how hard it is to battle in this league Monday-Wednesday-Friday every week.”
Who can argue right now? Yeah, there were some bad losses early, but this is when it matters most. Of the 24 teams left in the sectionals (3 divisions, each with eight quarterfinalists), here’s the conference breakdown.
MVC (10 team league) 5 left
Cape Ann (14 team league) 4 left
Catholic Central (14 team league) 3 left
Dual County (10 team league) 3 left
Middlesex (10 team league) 3 left
Commonwealth 2 left
Northeastern Conference 2 left
Boston City 1 left
Catholic Conference 1 left
That’s a statement by the MVC. We’ll see if they can keep it up.
You have to like Haverhill’s chances tonight, even against A-B ace Scott Weismann on short (3 day) rest. The Hillies send a fresh Leif Sorenson to the hill.
Andover split with Lowell in the regular season, but owns the edge in postseason tradtion.
Central catholic is in for a battle with Malden Catholic. As are those Tewksbury Redmen who face a stiff challenge with Bobby Dean and Danvers.
