Some belated thoughts after watching “A Christmas Story” four times today.
The Greater Lawrence Girls Tourney’s first Sunday was a smashing success.
Methuen’s upset of Central Catholic deserves another look. To come back from 10 down — twice — was impressive. It was a cathartic win for the Rangers, who last beat the Raiders in 2003.
Coach Karen McLaughlin must’ve hugged about 50 people on the way out of Klimas Memorial Fieldhouse, including one from last year’s star, Anna Aguirre.
Rashidat Agboola may have only scored three points in the win, but she was a force on defense. One particular block that was not mentioned in my game story came on a fast break. She trailed on a play, somehow catching up to swat the ball cleanly off the backboard.
But Central fans, don’t fear. You have Katie Zenevitch, there’s plenty of time to recover. Remember, Lowell, which trounced the Raiders 70-45 Dec. 14, also beat the Raiders 58-33 in the Christmas Tourney final last year.
The Raiders got the last laugh in March, however, defeating Lowell 41-34 in the Division 1 North final.
Moving on, Friday’s slate shaped up nicely.
Once again, Lowell vs. Andover (6 p.m.) should be a good one.
That’s all for now. Hope everyone got what they wanted for Christmas.
And stay away from the BB guns boys and girls. You’ll shoot your eye out!
