Pinkerton football received some good news heading into Saturday’s Division 1 championship game against Nashua South.
On Wednesday, Astros kicker Shawn Clukey returned to the practice field for the first time since breaking his kicking leg against Londonderry on Sept. 29.
In his first day out of a protective boot, Clukey was booming field goals from 35 to 40 yards during practice, teammate Bobby Dattilo said.
Through five games before his injury, the sophomore had kicked 11 extra points and field goals of 22, 27 and 35 yards. In his absence, starting linebacker and fullback Mike Crupi has handled the kicking duties.
It is not certain whether Clukey will kick Saturday, when Pinkerton will go for its third straight Division 1 state title at 12:30 p.m. at Stellos Stadium in Nashua.
