Took in a post-monsoon grudge match between Central and Chelmsford Saturday night. All I can say is the guy who invented field turf had better have cashed in. What a great surface. No idea how much rain we got, but the field allowed the Lions to win fair and square.
We’ll say it one final time. Mike Leavitt is a stud. You just love watching the kid play ball. He may not be big enough for the big time or fast enough for the big time, but he’s truly tough enough.

Some news on the local baseball front. An interesting turn of events. Tewksbury’s Scott oberg, whom we had reported over a month ago as headed for UConn, pretty much paved the way for Haverhill’s Leif Sorenson.
Sources say some of the scholarship UVM was going to give Oberg was offered to the Hillie side-armer. Good for all involved. Sorenson, according to Chip Dunn, has applied to UVM early admission and is hoping to get word asap. The right-hander is a good one, who started slowly because of a hockey injury last spring. Watch him this year. He’s one of three quality arms on Dunn’s staff.

Just wondering for a minute what would possess people to pay $79 for Jonathan Papelbon to autograph a baseball. The Sox closer demanded top cash at this weekend’s Greater Boston Collector’s show in Wilmington. That’s $79 plus $5 admission, just to get into the show. Yikes.
