North Andover’s J.T. Harold, a junior running back who attended Austin Prep, was honored for his big day on Saturday for the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth football team.
The Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) named Harold the Div. III New England Offensive Player of the Week for his performance against Fitchburg State last Saturday.
Harold rushed 16 times for 195 yards in the Corsairs’ 48-35 victory Saturday. He scored five touchdowns in the first half on runs of 19, nine, 60, three and 20 yards, and scored on five of his 11 first-half carries. He averaged in excess of 12 yards per carry before he was rested in the third quarter. In three games this season,
Harold has averaged 190 all-purpose yards and 178 yards of total offense per game, and leads the NEFC in rushing.
“The award is very well-deserved,” said UMass Dartmouth Head Coach Mark Robichaud. “J.T. is a great kid who is a leader and sets a great example. In addition to the fact that he is one of the best running backs in New England, he’s polite, he works hard, and he does a great job in weight room. He’s the kind of kid that every football coach would like to have.”
UMass Dartmouth will return to action when they host Plymouth State in their 2007 Boyd Division opener this Saturday at 12 noon.
