Word around the city is spreading that the heat will be on new Lawrence High AD Tim Finn to make some kind of decision on his football team’s future.
The MVC administrators are said, according to sources, to be pressing LHS to either be a member in all sports, including football, or no sports.
Lawrence currently plays football in the Cape Ann League large division, but the MVC schools have never been happy with it.
The argument always presents itself from a lesser hoop club that reasons Paul Neal’s Lancer hoopsters and Andover, Central and Lowell consistently have their way with them. They don’t back out.
What do the Lancers do, if pressed? Life in the CAL seems to be suiting the Lancers well, or at least better than it was in the MVC. It will be a situation to keep an eye on.

I’ve looked all over and can’t find your acclaimed Golden Boot rankings. Once you guys stopped covering the Revolution, I considered dropping my subscription, but the knowledge that I’d be able to track the high school scoring race was enough to dissuade me. C’mon — some kid from Sanborn must have 15 goals by now. Let’s get this thing going!

    Dear SVG,

I concur. The Golden Boot was a wonderfully intriguing, integral, inviting, ingenious idea, truly allowing full enjoyment of the local soccer scene. Hopefully, the hard-working chaps at The Eagle will re-energize their pages and this Web Site with the races. I implore them to give us The Boot!

If it comes down to choosing a league they should definately stay in the MVC for all sports. Football is big in all the other school’s but in LHS we all know basketball rules, plus they are doing very good in all the other sports Volleyball, track, etc. Baseball they do allright they should be doing better with all the latino’s baseball players they have. The decision is not tough at all you got to do what is best for all sports, LHS hoop or Volleyball in D-3 it probably wouldn’t be fair, just as it might not be fair for the football team to play in the MVC but if they have to they have to.
