- David Olson has been editor of The Salem News since 2006, overseeing coverage of 13 communities on the North Shore.
He has also worked as a night editor and metro editor for the paper and served two stints as Statehouse bureau chief, covering the 2002 Massachusetts gubernatorial campaign.
Before coming to Salem, he was editor of the Gloucester Daily Times, which was named Newspaper of the Year in 2005 by the New England Newspaper Association. He also spent three years as an education reporter and editor at the Times Herald-Record of Middletown, N.Y.
He has earned several New England and national writing awards, and in 2007 The Salem News was named the Newspaper of the Year by its parent company, CNHI Inc.
He lives on the North Shore with his wife, Deborah, and son, Lucas.
