Boston looks to make it three straight wins tonight. Pretty quiet around here so far.
Kendrick Perkins is still nursing a sore shoulder. He won’t be in uniform.
He did say he’d like to be back for Monday’s tussle with Phoenix. Doc Rivers didn’t exactly sound convinced.
“Obviously it would hurt us if he doesn’t (play),” Rivers said. “But I’m not going to play him unless (trainer) Eddie Lacerte and (team physician) Dr. (Brian) McKeon tell me he’s ready. I think he wants to. But wanting to and being ready to are two different things.”
The big man is clearly excited to play against Shaquille O’Neal and Amare Stoudemire. But Doc claims he’s not easily swayed.
“Because it’s Shaq and Stoudemire, I absolutely will not listen to what Perk has to say on that one,” he said.
Rivers was also complimentary of the 19-19 Nets, who he called one of the “good stories in our league” this year. Devin Harris (22.9 ppg, 6.7 apg)at the point has helped change their once Princeton based offense to more of a dribble-drive style (Doc said so at least) that Memphis runs.
New Jersey will be sporting its bright red uniforms. C’s in home whites. Tip off’s about 15 minutes away.
