I guess it’s time to kick the Celtics when their down. Five losses and seven games will embolden opponents.
Even rookies. This came out of D.J. Augustin’s mouth after Charlotte beat slumping Boston last night:
“They come in and intimidate you and try to punk you. But if you don’t back down from them, they kind of fold.”
Zing.
Obviously defense is the chief concern. 100-plus points in the past two losses. That ain’t the Celtics we’ve come to know.
The Rockets are banged up, but tonight will be another tough test.
So at the moment, the C’s aren’t the ‘96 Bulls reincarnated. They aren’t the ‘86 C’s. strong>Kevin McHale, after winning the title that year, told Sports Illustrated it was “predestined.”
This version of the Green isn’t divine. But I don’t agree with Augustin that they fold.
If you think they’re not committed to outworking everybody else, you’re crazy. Is that going to be enough down the stretch? I’m still not sure.
