That’s 15 in a row for the Celtics, who are now off to the best 25-game-start (23-2) in NBA history.

The best start with two losses is 26-2. Philadelphia (1966-67) and the Knicks (1969-70) both did it.

Paul Pierce going down at the end of the game was a scary development. From the Globe:

Paul Pierce was escorted off the court by Glen Davis and Leon Powe in the final minute of the Celtics’ 100-91 win over Utah last night with a left knee injury, but he is probable for tomorrow’s visit to Atlanta.

“It’s a little tender,” Pierce said of his left knee. “The knee kind of buckled. I should be all right. I iced it and I’m able to put weight on it, so it should be all right.

“I saw [Kyle] Korver coming down and I tried to get out of the lane and I just landed on the knee and it just went straight back and I was able to back up a little bit to kind of take the pressure off it. It didn’t go back too far, so it should be all right.”

He says he’s OK. I believe him. But still, injuries (duh) are the only thing that can seemingly derail this team. The collision — obviously it wasn’t on purpose — looked like a low hit in football. It’s never good to see bodies flying around like that. Regardless, he walked off afterward.

On to Atlanta now. Win No. 16′s on the line.

Doc Rivers, by the way, is not shy when talking about his team. That’s right, he compares the Celtics to the mid-1990s Bulls, who he played against several times.

‘Til next time.
