David West hasn’t been tremendously explosive so far tonight, but he does have 13 points on 5 of 14 shooting.
It’s amazing what playing with a good point guard will do for your game. I remember watching West in college. He was fundamentally sound, he could rebound and he could score. He was sort of a poor man’s Tim Duncan. A bit of a plodder, but certainly a guy with an NBA future. I also remember him getting dunked on by Omar Williams , a GW forward who was 6-9 but probably weighed about 170 pounds (he was listed at 190). I think that jam made it to a “Best Damn Sports Show” countdown somewhere…
Now West is throwing down alley-oops from Chris Paul. If I were West I’d make sure Paul doesn’t leave my side. Forever.
It’s kind of like what Jason Kidd did for Kenyon Martin. K-Mart’s a decent player, but with Kidd he was a dunk machine. Just ask Antoine Walker, who’s probably still having nightmares after Martin abused him during the 2002 Eastern Conference finals.
