Tony Allen isn’t ready to return to the lineup. The 6-foot-4 guard’s injured right ankle is not right yet.
Celtics coach Doc Rivers doesn’t think Allen will be ready for Sunday’s game at Indiana either.
“He hasn’t done anything. I doubt even Sunday,” Rivers said. “He’s not 100 percent or really close to it. The way I look at it, after Sunday we have three days off. He would have to be doing really well for me to play him on Sunday.”
Nothing too crazy going on at the Garden.
Ray Allen held court for reporters, spending a few minutes talking about live music. He said the last show he attended was Justin Timberlake. Stop the presses.
Greg Oden is a big, big man up close. To my knowledge, he didn’t speak to reporters, politely telling a small group of them that he was heading to chapel. Blazers coach Nate McMillan answered several questions about the 7-footer. McMillan said Oden’s defense has been his strong point. Once he picks up the intricacies of playing center, McMillan said, he’ll be even better.
“When he starts to understand what that position needs to do, he will improve,” McMillan said.
Brandon Roy spoke for a bit, complimenting the Celtics, especially Rajon Rondo , who’s coming off the first triple-double of his career.
“He does a great job of doing a number of things out there,” Roy said. “He’s no slouch. We definitely have to worry about Rondo tonight and stop his penetration.”
