I am Sasha Fierce

I guess it was a bad sign when the Globe ran a stylized picture of Sasha Vujacic. Sasha Fierce talked about not wanting to wear green because he hated Boston… Yes, the Lakers prevailed, 92-83. And yes, there was some sloppy play — did you hear Jeff Van Gundy screaming about the second unit not [...]

Get well soon

Glen “Big Baby” Davis was reportedly in a car accident today. Whiplash and a concussion, according to the Globe. On a more cheerful note, in his absence, the Celtics picked up their 18th straight victory, a 124-105 victory over the Knicks. Couple leftovers on this snowy day. Magic’s chiming in about the Christmas Day matchup. [...]

The Tao of Larry

As the snow storm hysteria increases, take a moment to soak up the wisdom of Larry Bird. In a short first-person piece, Tom Chiarella of Esquire Magazine does a damn good job capturing Larry Legend’s essence. Here are a few choice excerpts, which appear in the January 2009 “Meaning of Life” issue on news stands [...]

That’s 15 in a row for the Celtics, who are now off to the best 25-game-start (23-2) in NBA history. The best start with two losses is 26-2. Philadelphia (1966-67) and the Knicks (1969-70) both did it. Paul Pierce going down at the end of the game was a scary development. From the Globe: Paul [...]

Rolling Green

The Celtics won their 14th straight last night. At 22-2, they’re the best team in the league. Here’s part of my recap from today’s E-T: BOSTON — So what if James Posey gives bigger, longer hugs than my mom. Fans at TD Banknorth Garden aren’t afraid to boo, which they did after he hit a [...]

Chris Paul’s got some stones. Getting into it with Kendrick Perkins? OK it wasn’t really a big deal. Although it was awesome watching Perkins guard Paul at the end of the game… This one appears to be over. Boston’s up 12 with 24.5 seconds to go. Be back later folks.

Reserve power

Interesting lineup seems to be getting the job done tonight. Eddie House, Tony Allen, Leon Powe, Glen “Big Baby” Davis and Paul Pierce began the fourth quarter on the floor. Powe was replaced by Kevin Garnett at 8:51, but other than that there haven’t been any changes. –OOPS. Ray Allen replaced Tony Allen at 5:37 [...]

The Celtics can’t quite pull away, but they are up 69-64 after three quarters. Chris Paul is wreaking havoc (13 points, 12 well-earned assists, 5 rebounds) but so is Paul Pierce (23 points). The reserves are in to start the fourth quarter…it’s 75-67.

David West hasn’t been tremendously explosive so far tonight, but he does have 13 points on 5 of 14 shooting. It’s amazing what playing with a good point guard will do for your game. I remember watching West in college. He was fundamentally sound, he could rebound and he could score. He was sort of [...]

Perk makes his arrival

Kendrick Perkins just made one of the most stunning defensive plays of the year, a backside block of David West. The place went crazy after that one. 35-29 Boston at 5:13 in the second quarter. Paul Pierce hit a pair of treys to extend the lead to six. Memo to Tony Allen: MAKE YOUR LAYUPS. [...]
