Mike Bibby’s getting booed every time he touches the ball. Good for him. He did rip on Celtics fans last spring. Ray Allen nearly ran over the floor sweeper after his steal/breakaway layup. Yes, the “noise meter” was blaring on the scoreboard, but this place was rocking at the end of the first quarter. Flip [...]

Not exactly a disastrous start, but once again, Boston seems a bit sssssllllllloowwww. 20-16 Atlanta midway through the first quarter. The Hawks are a blistering 8 for 11 from the field. Boston’s 7 for 12. Joe Johnson scored a quick five points. He’s tough to stop when he gets going.

Celtics (7-1) vs. Hawks (6-0) Boston needs to finally wake up in the first quarter. The Hawks aren’t cupcakes anymore. The memory of last spring’s seven-game series won’t go away so fast. “It seems like a blur now. I just remember the situation,” Ray Allen said before the game. “Just feeling the desperation to want [...]

Strange win for the Celtics last night. Slow start, strong finish. Paul Pierce on fire. Same old story. Anyway, I’m already looking forward to Wednesday’s game. The Hawks played Boston pretty tough last spring (at least in Atlanta). They’re 5-0, with wins over New Orleans, Toronto, Philly and Orlando. One local connection to note: their [...]

Former Piston Antonio McDyess has been bought out. Could he end up in a Celtics uniform? That would be a hell of a pickup, just like P.J. Brown. The Globe has the story. At 6-foot-9, 240 pounds, he’d give Boston a big body who can pop mid-range jumpers. It seems almost too good to be [...]

Sluggish start, strong finish. Sort of the theme so far this season. Big ups to Kendrick Perkins and Paul Pierce, for a job well done, as usual. Just a warning. The following isn’t Celtics related. But it is Boston related, at least tangentially. Mike Jarvis, who got his start at Cambridge Rindge and Latin, where [...]

Boston once again took care of business, smashing the Oklahoma City SuperSonics 96-83. Thunder? Do they want anybody to buy the jerseys? (Maybe people have. I don’t know, I just think the logo too damn dull. Are those colored lines supposed to be lightning bolts?) A 2-1 Midwest road trip. Last night they held Okie [...]

Barack Obama just got elected. The Celtics just beat the Rockets. Big night for Massachusetts, eh? Eddie House sank a pair of free throws to ice it late. Give it up for Big Perk. In front of a home crowd — he reportedly set aside 100 tickets! — he had his best game of the [...]

Some interesting takes on the Iverson for Billups swap. Bob Ryan’s column is a tribute/reality check on A.I., who he calls, “One of the most intriguing players in the history of the NBA”. He also reminds us that Iverson is 33 and that it was already 12-plus years ago that Marcus Camby and UMass beat [...]

I’m all out of pun bullets for the day (sigh). From the AP: DETROIT—The Detroit Pistons shook the NBA in a big way Monday — landing former MVP Allen Iverson from the Denver Nuggets. The Pistons gave up All-Star point guard and former NBA finals MVP Chauncey Billups, top reserve Antonio McDyess and project Cheikh [...]
