The night belonged to Brian Scalabrine, who filled in nicely for Kevin Garnett, who was serving a one-game suspension. More on the Celtics victory in the morning. For now, I’ll leave you with a cheerful bon mot that made the rounds at the Garden last night. Give Quentin Richardson credit. The man can talk. This, [...]

Ray Allen just took a seat after playing the first 33 minutes of the game. I know Garnett’s injured, but Allen will feel that one in the morning… Brian Scalabrine hit his first two shots of the night, both jumpers, one a trey. The “Scal-a-breen-ee” chants just started up. Boston’s up by 10 with about [...]

Leon Powe (14 points) and the Celtics seem to be doing just fine without Kevin Garnett. They’re leading 58-47 at the beginning of the third quarter. Paul Pierce and Ray Allen have nine points each. Boston now has 38 points in the paint. Yikes.

BIGGEST NEWS OF THE NIGHT!!!!!! Paul Pierce just hit a jumper from the corner to give Boston a 103-102 lead with 0.5 seconds left. Hawks fumble the inbounds pass. It’s over. Garden is going nuts. Celts win by one.

Neither team has been able to pull away here at the Garden… 77-76 Hawks after three. Joe Johnson leads Atlanta with 19 points. Paul Pierce has once again been the story for Boston. He has 23 points on 5 for 9 shooting and 10 for 11 from the line. Watching Mo Evans try to guard [...]

Boston finally woke up. Kevin Garnett’s vicious alley-oop dunk over Randolph Morris — Rajon Rondo threw a pretty pass to set it up — and subsequent free throw capped a 22-6 run and gave Boston a 51-50 lead with 17.6 seconds remaining in the quarter. KG said something to Morris after. I’m sure it was [...]

What we have here is a failure to communicate. RISE AND SHINE people. Shouldn’t Doc or KG or somebody be yelling in your ears? Where’s Posey when you need him? The Celtics, AGAIN, have been caught sleeping early. Atlanta has a 44-28 lead at 7:00 in the second quarter. Flip Murray has 12 points. As [...]
