It’s one game in, but we learned something about the Celtics last night. Even the most worthy distractions are no match for them (so far).
Pomp and circumstance played tricks on ‘em early, but it didn’t end up mattering.
“Guys were over pumped up,” center Kendrick Perkins said.
Then, they turned it on, once again stifling an opponent. It’s their trademark, and everybody at TD Banknorth Garden knew it. Boston allowed 35 second-half points and outscored the Cavs 24-13 in the third. Celtics 90, Cavs 85. Game over.
“We started playing defense,” Perkins said. “Our D gave up 50 points in the first half, that’s not like us.”
The Celtics are off until practice Thursday.
