I found this photo while searching The Eagle-Tribune photo database earlier today. It is of Brewers third baseman Aramis Ramirez back in Low Single-A. Ramirez has had a pretty good major league career, hitting 315 homers, driving in 1,122 runs and batting .284 with a .342 on-base percentage.

The Boston Red Sox have added outfielder Cody Ross to the 40-man roster and to do so, they designated right-handed pitcher Scott Atchison for assignment.

The Boston Red Sox and Lowell Spinners announced the extension of their Player Development Contract for an additional two years. The extension keeps the Red Sox New York-Penn League Short-Season Single-A affiliate in Lowell through the 2014 season. “We are very happy to extend our productive relationship with the Spinners through 2014,” Red Sox Director [...]

Greg Maddux is eighth on the all-time wins list with 355. That’s one more win than Roger Clemens. Doesn’t Maddux deserve to be the first ever first-ballot Hall of Famer with 100 percent of the vote? He won four straight National League Cy Young awards (1992-1995) and posted a 3.16 career area in 23 big [...]

The Red Sox have made a one-year offer to right-hander Edwin Jackson according to ESPN.com and they also have made a significant offer to right-handed hurler Roy Oswalt, according to CBSSports.com. The 28-year-old Jackson went 12-9 with a 3.79 ERA in 32 games, 31 starts, last season for both the White Sox and Cardinals. He [...]

Remember Scott Cooper? He played for the Red Sox from 1990 through 1994, hitting 27 homers, driving in 156 runs and batting .284. He was an All-Star in both 1993 and 1994.
