Where do I find the Police Logs?
  • rjl
I WOULD JUST LIKE YOU TO KNOW THAT YOU ARE THE ONLY NEWSPAPER THAT WILL NOT ALLOW PEOPLE TO EVEN SEE THE OBITS. SOME OF US ARE RETIRED LIVING IN ANOTHER STATE AND ITS OUR ONLY WAY OF FINDING OUT INFORMATION SO THAT WE CAN SEND OUR CONDOLEANCES. UNTIL YOU CHANGE YOUR WAY OF DOING BUSINESS PEOPLE SHOULD SUBSCRIBE TO ANOTHER NEWSPAPER. WHEN WE LIVED IN MA WE WERE TRIB SUBSCRIBERS
    THANK YOU FOR LISTENING

You can, just go to salem news and click on the Obituary!

How do i get a paper route?
  • Karen: In the Plus edition, just search for "Police Logs" (without the quotes) in the search box on the right. You can even specify a specific date to find the logs that ran on that day.

ROSEBARB: Big changes are in the works with our websites and we are definitely listening. Keep an eye on our sites over the next few months!

Jacob: It depends on which publication you would like to deliver. Give the front desk a call and tell them you're interested in becoming a Newspaper Carrier. You can call The Eagle-Tribune at 978-946-2000 and they can direct you to the correct department for the paper you wish to carry.

I tried the 'We want to hear from you link' at the end of the Mosquito spraying story, the page refreshes and there is a paragraph about We Want to Hear from You.

It would be better and you may get more responses, if you put a clear action on that page:
    Submit a letter to Editor
    Send comments about Web site

And have those links work rather than making the user read carefully and select the right place to send a letter, print an email and mail it via post office, etc...

Hello, How wonderful to read that I'll have full access to your news stories, photos and obits. I'm in Oklahoma now but spent a great part of my life in Tribune areas. I'm a nationally published poet. The very first poem I ever had published was in the Tribune. (Essex Street School) Don't remember the year. Probably sixties. Thanks for being there for an old man who feels strong connections to the Merrimack Valley. Richard Brown

I'm doing genealogy research on a cousin of mine- John Kennedy who was a vaudeville actor under the name of Douglas Hunter. The Lowell Sun ran a story of a hit and run accident (August 24, 1935) which left him in critical condition at Lawrence General Hospital. He was 38 at the time and a resident of Lawrence.
I could find no follow up story indicating if he died shortly after. Family legend says he "died penniless in Boston in 1951". Do you have a death index I could research?
    Thank you,
    Maurice O'Connor

Not sure if I'm sending this to the right place, but...

I grew up in MA and have read the Eagle Tribune as long as I can remember. Now my family and I live 3000 miles away but I still check the Eagle Tribune's news almost daily. I just wanted to applaud Greg Vellante for his article today titled "Rated 'I' for irresponsible". Every day I see kids taking part in movies, music, and especially video games that are FAR beyond their age and level of maturity, the parents know they have these things, even purchasing them for their own kids! My children were shocked to go over to a friend's house, who wasn't even 13 yet, and their friend was playing a "rated M for mature" video game. I don't have a big problem with blood and mild language, but their friend, an impressionable 12-year old boy, was choosing for his character the following:
boyfriends AND girlfriends, multiple wives, the highest level of violence, nudity, F-bombs, choices to murder, drugs, alcohol, smoking, and so many more I'm sure I'm forgetting. My kids were so uncomfortable knowing that stuff is wrong, they chose to come home. The scary part is that this kids' parents were both home, knew he was playing, and they bought it for them!
Until parents learn to be responsible, we're going to continue to see teenagers killing each other, committing suicide, treating everyone around them with disrespect, and so on. Why do what's right when it's easier to do what's wrong and there's no consequences for your actions? Grow up people and take responsibility! Parents like these are TRAINING children to become the leaders of tomorrow, and fail. Our country will be destroyed from the inside-out if this generation isn't taught how to contribute to the benefit of society rather than to destroy it for selfish ambition and "boredom".

Your obits used to be easy and quick to read now you've changed them and it takes forever to go through them.

I guess I'll use the Union Leader, instead.
  • Ken: I suspect you may be going through each individual obit as they are listed in the scrolling window. To view all obits in full text click on the link below the Display button titled "Browse full text of obituaries "
  • Lisa: Glad you enjoyed the article. I will pass your comments along the author of the article.
  • Maurice: In order to obtain this information you will need to research it on microfiche at your local library.
  • Richard Brown: We are excited about our new relationship

How can I find an article that appeared in the Feb. 19th paper on my grandson Andrew Wentworth (Hampstead, NH Middle School student)? I am in Florida (and read your former editor, Dan Warner's column weekly). I can't find an archive section on this site. Thanks for any help.

    Pat Stone
    North Fort Myers, FL
  • to Pat Stone:
If you enter your grandson's name into the Search Site field you can do a google search of the article. The option is on the right hand side of the screen.
  • Dave Pasiuk
    Hello,

It seems the last time I was on this site, I was able to go see a past issue in an archive area. I want to see something in last week's paper. How can I do that?

    Thanks
  • To Dave Pasiuk: Archives from the paid site are currently not available – we will be moving all the stories to the free site in the near future. Articles posted after Feb 1, 2008 can be searched using "Search Site". This option is found on the right hand side of the homepage as well as inside the individual sections, i.e. News, Sports, etc.

I recently, around Valentines Day there were personal ads. It said to logon to essex county singles a virtual dead end????? Any ideas? Thank you
  • To Alan: I believe you're referring to the "date or mate?" ad that was in on Valentine's Day. The link to that site is essexcountysingles.com. If you're having trouble accessing that site you will need to contact them directly at the numbers listed in their ad.

I am tring to find the obit on a woman who died on Feb 28th. You have only the current day listed. I am out of state and am trhying to find information on this woman. I do not know my friends' maiden name and was looking for info though the obit. I find it annoying that you do not have the capability of finding this information through your paper. My friend lives in Saloem, NH and her mother passed from Methuen. I know she would have posted in your paper. When I get bcak home, I will seriously think about anceling my subscription to your paper.
  • Ms. King: To search for obits go to the obituaries page for the eagletribune.com (http://www.legacy.com/eagletribune/Obituaries.asp) and scroll to the middle of the page where you'll see a calendar. Click on the date you wish to search. You may have to search a few days past the death date.

Yes , I grew up in Methuen Ma. Upon reading the article on David Blache for raping a 26 yr. old because she had been drinking. Many women have been pulling this rape thing off even when it is consensual. Is everyone breathing some bad air up there ? If every man that had sex with a woman that was intoxicated, most of our male population would be in jail. It's this kind of women that create such a problem for us when one is truly raped. This crime is beyond anything else I could imagine. I hope this man is released soon. Maybe you should check her out, bet there isn't any character there. I agree in his position he used poor judgement but he's not a criminal, she is.

I have been trying to locate an obituary that I missed. It might have run last week around 3/4 or 3/5. I can find no place to enter a request to go back into past issues on line. Is this possible?

    Thank you,
    Diane
  • To Diane: If you scroll down the obituary page you will see a calendar that will allow you to search on a particular date (by clicking on the date).

In response to The Dog Chapman Story that was run in one of your papers. I believe the former Mass officer is in plain words out of his mind. At no time since he was on television has Mr. Chapman or any one of his team ever handcuffed a woman or put a pistol to her head someone needs to get their facts straight. If anything when a female is involved in a bounty it is the females and not the males of the crew that perform the takedown. Now as for the other bail agents that say they have no use for the Chapmans is that because instead of just picking people up and putting them in jail the Chapmans talk to them and treat them like human beings instead of what I assume some bail agents do and just treat people like dollar signs. and as long as we're judging people on the actions of others police officers do not have that perfect an image of being the peace and love type but that's just my opinion.

    Hi.

I've been looking at the real estate (for rent) section lately. Can you tell me how often it is updated. Thank you.
  • To leslie: Classified ads are updated daily. The length of time an ad is up, however, is dependent on how long the ad was purchased.
  • E. Christwick
I would like to respond to the horribly misinformed "reporter", Angeljean Chiaramida, as her nastily slanted article on methadone was full of wrong statistics and backwards thinking. While the drug is currently centered in the great drug witch hunt it is actually our liberty and rights which are in danger of being destroyed.
  • To E. Christwick: This is an ideal comment for our new interactive comment feature. At the end of every story is an area for you to leave your thoughts and opinions. Readers can interact with each other. For more information see http://www.eagletribune.com/punews/eaglelocalne...

We are really having a difficult time understanding why every other animal hoarder and criminal neglect case is arrested and of public record and this case with the cats is not. The animals turned in are clearly sick, infected with fungus, respiratory infections, etc. and 51 are turned in to a shelter. How many did the breeder get to keep? With no charges, who exactly is monitoring the well being of the ones left behind? With no name posted, how to rescue orgs and breeders know who NOT to place a cat with, a known hoarder and medically neglected situation. It appears this person is recieving special treatment and the cats, as usual, are not and more will be doomed to repeat the nightmare of cages and illness. Repeat offenders in hoarding situations have an outstanding reoccurance record.
  • To catzmiao: Comments such as this are ideal for our new interactive commenting feature. New site design is completely broken when using Mozilla Firefox instead of Internet Explorer.
  • To Tom: The new design has been tested extensively in Mozilla Firefox. Please try again and let us know if the problem persists. If it does it would be helpful if you could provide your system information including the version of the browser and what operating system you are running.

What ever happened to our government it is supposed to be FOR THE PEOPLE BYE THE PEOPLE not TAKE AS MUCH AS WE CAN FROM THE PEOPLE AND THE HECK WITH THE PEOPLE.How much are we supposed to sit back and take as the majority of politicians get richer and most americans pay for it.And how many times are our votes not going to count why bother the politicians will decide what states votes count .I think americans are getting fed up with over paid politicians doing for them selves and not the people.Thank you for posting this my name is Fredrick Longo

    Hello-

I currently have a 3rd grader at the school, I cringe everytime they go to a field trip when there are so many children in her class size with all 4 teachers. My concern is that you print in the paper that they are going on a field trip prior to going?? Why??? This gives some sick people out there ideas, let face there are not alot of nice people out there. Now I wouldn't mind in the future if you say in a write up that recently the 3rd graders took there annual trip to Rye.

That is just to much info before hand. Especially in any cases of parental abduction or stranger abduction. Also especially considering that pervert that flashes everyone up there! could you please change the policy on printing any of these????

Your new interactive commenting feature is pretty disgusting. You've given everyone with a computer the right to insult each other, offer slanted opinions and just basically shoot there mouth off anonymously. They're worse than your "Sound Off" comments. Does any check them before they get posted?
  • To Dave: Comments are not moderated. The purpose of the new commenting feature is to allow people to offer valuable insight, opinions and thoughts about the articles online. Comments that cross a line or use foul language are removed as we see them. There will be a way for people to report innapropriate comments in the future.

I moved to NH 4 years ago. I selected to receive the Sunday newspaper only. Since then you have included the daily paper which I did not want, and you started it up again and again after my phone calls to your office. I do not want the daily newspaper, as it gets thrown away without even comming out of the cellophane wrap. I have been paying the $32 regardless of what the bill says and will continue doing so. I find it totaly absurd that tha teachers of the Sanborn school district feel compelled to seek a pay raise during this economic disaster. People are just getting by but the teachers are complaining that the salaries of some is only 46,000 dollars. I would hazard a guess that must be an entrance level position. I would like to see what each teacher makes for a salary. Posssibly the Tribune could find this out and publish the same.

I find it totaly absurd that the teachers of Sanborn school district feel compelled to seek a pay raise during these trouble economic times, people are just getting by with minimal amounts of funds yet a recent article decried how teachers are only getting $46,000 dollars, I would hazar a guess that is an entrance level pay. I would like to see what each teacher makes for a salary, possibly the Tribune could get that information and publish same.

I would like to know if there was any update info on the story about Wal_Mart in Plaistow,NH that was in the news from Jan. 06,2009 as to there plan to build a new superstore?

    Hi,
I think you have a very user friendly web site- you must have a terrific IT staff.

In doing my family history, I'm trying to find out what happened to a cousin of mine who was from Lawrence. His name was John Kennedy who performed in vaudeville under the name of Douglas Hunter. In 1935/36 he almost lost his life in a hit run accident in Dracut. It made the front page of one edition of the Lowell Sun. He supposedly died penniless in Boston in 1950/1951 but there was no trace of a death notice. Since he was a former celebrity from lawrence I was wondering if your archives might have some record of his death.
    Sincerely,
    Maurice O'Connor

You have a listing on your town crossings website for Luu Auto Service in Natick that lists the wrong telephone number. The number you have 508 652 8088 is my home telephone number and we are getting tons of calls. We have a baby and it is disruptive. Please take the wrong information off of your site immediately. Thank you.

Just a head's up...your webpage loads on my screen and shortly after I start reading a story it reloads again and I have to find where I was all over again...it appears to be loading advertising over and over again and it makes it difficult for the reader. I am using a Windows XP machine with Mozilla Firefox 3.0.7.
  • Thank you for the heads up, we were testing some new features with our comments that was causing the problem. We took the new features offline for now. Hopefully we will be able to resolve the issue soon so we can add the new comment capabilities.

I love the blog feature but am wondering why there aren't any photos? I usually like seeing the GMG photos and now they look like they've been removed? Why do some blog listings have photos and not others? Rock on!

    Good morning,

My name is Stephanie McGeney and I am the Executive Director of We Are America, Inc. As much as I appreciate the information printed in the news under Peabody Calender today I have to tell you that the information is incorrect. The show starts at 6:00 p.m. not 7:00 p.m. and it is the 2008 Tanner city Idols not the 2007. And last, our website is www.weareamericainc.com not the one published in the newspaper. Thank you for taking the time to print this information, I appreciate everything you do for us.

I recommend you add child category to local news. It would be helpful if you could categorize each article by town. At the very least, add the town in the title of the article.
  • Thank you for the feedback, we will be looking to make that possible in the future.
  • me
enough already with the "your page is loading" pop-up screens, such as classmates.com. if you are going to load your website with crap like this, at least program in a "close" or "x" into the screen so we can wait for the page to load without this garbage.
  • We have had a few issues with our ad server recently and are working on it. When did you see the ad? Did you take a screen shot?
  • John
It would be helpful to have the city next to comments on LOCAL news.
  • S.Q
Briefly reading a few comments here I can only gather y'all are making efforts to remedy your site. Regardless, I thought I might highlight the inordinate amount of lag time that exists when loading pages here. I am using high speed internet and it can take as long as 30+ seconds to load a story if it is not dropped entirely delivering one to a blank void. While we can all stand to cultivate some additional patience in our lives I wonder how many perspective readers you lose due to this general inefficiency/bog down.

Best of luck with the upgrades. I love the paper. I only wish it was streamlined.
  • You are right there are issues, and we will be working to address as many as we can this year. Over the year sites have become more complex and will gather information from many different locations. This sometimes ads to additional delays.

Please be patient there will be a lot of changes coming over the next few months.
  • You guys are doing great. That is it. Many people will come pouring in with the negatives, but I am here to say you are great!

You have our company listed at the wrong address on the above posting. We are: Andover Interior Designs, Inc.

    Please make this correction.
  • It's important for police to be on board with the idea that not all drug addicts are criminals - and that this is a serious health issue and a psychological condition. When that happens, they will be able to HELP people find a drug treatment center instead of simply imprisoning them.
