I WOULD JUST LIKE YOU TO KNOW THAT YOU ARE THE ONLY NEWSPAPER THAT WILL NOT ALLOW PEOPLE TO EVEN SEE THE OBITS. SOME OF US ARE RETIRED LIVING IN ANOTHER STATE AND ITS OUR ONLY WAY OF FINDING OUT INFORMATION SO THAT WE CAN SEND OUR CONDOLEANCES. UNTIL YOU CHANGE YOUR WAY OF DOING BUSINESS PEOPLE SHOULD SUBSCRIBE TO ANOTHER NEWSPAPER. WHEN WE LIVED IN MA WE WERE TRIB SUBSCRIBERS
THANK YOU FOR LISTENING

How do i get a paper route?

Karen: In the Plus edition, just search for “Police Logs” (without the quotes) in the search box on the right. You can even specify a specific date to find the logs that ran on that day.
ROSEBARB: Big changes are in the works with our websites and we are definitely listening. Keep an eye on our sites over the next few months!
Jacob: It depends on which publication you would like to deliver. Give the front desk a call and tell them you’re interested in becoming a Newspaper Carrier. You can call The Eagle-Tribune at 978-946-2000 and they can direct you to the correct department for the paper you wish to carry.

I tried the ‘We want to hear from you link’ at the end of the Mosquito spraying story, the page refreshes and there is a paragraph about We Want to Hear from You.
It would be better and you may get more responses, if you put a clear action on that page:
Submit a letter to Editor
Send comments about Web siteAnd have those links work rather than making the user read carefully and select the right place to send a letter, print an email and mail it via post office, etc…

Hello, How wonderful to read that I’ll have full access to your news stories, photos and obits. I’m in Oklahoma now but spent a great part of my life in Tribune areas. I’m a nationally published poet. The very first poem I ever had published was in the Tribune. (Essex Street School) Don’t remember the year. Probably sixties. Thanks for being there for an old man who feels strong connections to the Merrimack Valley. Richard Brown

I’m doing genealogy research on a cousin of mine- John Kennedy who was a vaudeville actor under the name of Douglas Hunter. The Lowell Sun ran a story of a hit and run accident (August 24, 1935) which left him in critical condition at Lawrence General Hospital. He was 38 at the time and a resident of Lawrence.
I could find no follow up story indicating if he died shortly after. Family legend says he “died penniless in Boston in 1951″. Do you have a death index I could research?
Thank you,

Not sure if I’m sending this to the right place, but…
I grew up in MA and have read the Eagle Tribune as long as I can remember. Now my family and I live 3000 miles away but I still check the Eagle Tribune’s news almost daily. I just wanted to applaud Greg Vellante for his article today titled “Rated ‘I’ for irresponsible”. Every day I see kids taking part in movies, music, and especially video games that are FAR beyond their age and level of maturity, the parents know they have these things, even purchasing them for their own kids! My children were shocked to go over to a friend’s house, who wasn’t even 13 yet, and their friend was playing a “rated M for mature” video game. I don’t have a big problem with blood and mild language, but their friend, an impressionable 12-year old boy, was choosing for his character the following:
boyfriends AND girlfriends, multiple wives, the highest level of violence, nudity, F-bombs, choices to murder, drugs, alcohol, smoking, and so many more I’m sure I’m forgetting. My kids were so uncomfortable knowing that stuff is wrong, they chose to come home. The scary part is that this kids’ parents were both home, knew he was playing, and they bought it for them!
Until parents learn to be responsible, we’re going to continue to see teenagers killing each other, committing suicide, treating everyone around them with disrespect, and so on. Why do what’s right when it’s easier to do what’s wrong and there’s no consequences for your actions? Grow up people and take responsibility! Parents like these are TRAINING children to become the leaders of tomorrow, and fail. Our country will be destroyed from the inside-out if this generation isn’t taught how to contribute to the benefit of society rather than to destroy it for selfish ambition and “boredom”. -

Your obits used to be easy and quick to read now you’ve changed them and it takes forever to go through them.
I guess I’ll use the Union Leader, instead.

How can I find an article that appeared in the Feb. 19th paper on my grandson Andrew Wentworth (Hampstead, NH Middle School student)? I am in Florida (and read your former editor, Dan Warner’s column weekly). I can’t find an archive section on this site. Thanks for any help.

Hello,
It seems the last time I was on this site, I was able to go see a past issue in an archive area. I want to see something in last week’s paper. How can I do that?
Thanks
-
18Moderator said:
To Dave Pasiuk: Archives from the paid site are currently not available – we will be moving all the stories to the free site in the near future. Articles posted after Feb 1, 2008 can be searched using “Search Site”. This option is found on the right hand side of the homepage as well as inside the individual sections, i.e. News, Sports, etc.

To Alan: I believe you’re referring to the “date or mate?” ad that was in on Valentine’s Day. The link to that site is essexcountysingles.com. If you’re having trouble accessing that site you will need to contact them directly at the numbers listed in their ad.

I am tring to find the obit on a woman who died on Feb 28th. You have only the current day listed. I am out of state and am trhying to find information on this woman. I do not know my friends’ maiden name and was looking for info though the obit. I find it annoying that you do not have the capability of finding this information through your paper. My friend lives in Saloem, NH and her mother passed from Methuen. I know she would have posted in your paper. When I get bcak home, I will seriously think about anceling my subscription to your paper.

Ms. King: To search for obits go to the obituaries page for the eagletribune.com (http://www.legacy.com/eagletribune/Obituaries.asp) and scroll to the middle of the page where you’ll see a calendar. Click on the date you wish to search. You may have to search a few days past the death date.

Yes , I grew up in Methuen Ma. Upon reading the article on David Blache for raping a 26 yr. old because she had been drinking. Many women have been pulling this rape thing off even when it is consensual. Is everyone breathing some bad air up there ? If every man that had sex with a woman that was intoxicated, most of our male population would be in jail. It’s this kind of women that create such a problem for us when one is truly raped. This crime is beyond anything else I could imagine. I hope this man is released soon. Maybe you should check her out, bet there isn’t any character there. I agree in his position he used poor judgement but he’s not a criminal, she is.

I have been trying to locate an obituary that I missed. It might have run last week around 3/4 or 3/5. I can find no place to enter a request to go back into past issues on line. Is this possible?
Thank you,

To Diane: If you scroll down the obituary page you will see a calendar that will allow you to search on a particular date (by clicking on the date).

In response to The Dog Chapman Story that was run in one of your papers. I believe the former Mass officer is in plain words out of his mind. At no time since he was on television has Mr. Chapman or any one of his team ever handcuffed a woman or put a pistol to her head someone needs to get their facts straight. If anything when a female is involved in a bounty it is the females and not the males of the crew that perform the takedown. Now as for the other bail agents that say they have no use for the Chapmans is that because instead of just picking people up and putting them in jail the Chapmans talk to them and treat them like human beings instead of what I assume some bail agents do and just treat people like dollar signs. and as long as we’re judging people on the actions of others police officers do not have that perfect an image of being the peace and love type but that’s just my opinion.

Hi.
I’ve been looking at the real estate (for rent) section lately. Can you tell me how often it is updated. Thank you.
-
28Moderator said:
To leslie: Classified ads are updated daily. The length of time an ad is up, however, is dependent on how long the ad was purchased.

I would like to respond to the horribly misinformed “reporter”, Angeljean Chiaramida, as her nastily slanted article on methadone was full of wrong statistics and backwards thinking. While the drug is currently centered in the great drug witch hunt it is actually our liberty and rights which are in danger of being destroyed.

We are really having a difficult time understanding why every other animal hoarder and criminal neglect case is arrested and of public record and this case with the cats is not. The animals turned in are clearly sick, infected with fungus, respiratory infections, etc. and 51 are turned in to a shelter. How many did the breeder get to keep? With no charges, who exactly is monitoring the well being of the ones left behind? With no name posted, how to rescue orgs and breeders know who NOT to place a cat with, a known hoarder and medically neglected situation. It appears this person is recieving special treatment and the cats, as usual, are not and more will be doomed to repeat the nightmare of cages and illness. Repeat offenders in hoarding situations have an outstanding reoccurance record.
