Have you ever had an opinion on an article published in our paper? How do you feel about important issues in your city or town? We want you to share those comments with our on-line community.
We are happy to introduce commenting as the newest feature on our Web site. At the end of every story is an area for you to leave your thoughts and opinions. We also want readers to interact with each other, so every comment offers a reply button that allows you to respond to a particular post. You can also use the up and down arrows next to each comment to indicate quickly if you agree or disagree.
With this new feature come some rules. We ask that you are respectful to one another and use appropriate language when posting on the site.
We hope commenting will be a valuable tool to interact with your news and each other.
Posting comments
To post a comment to a story scroll to the bottom of the story. You will see the following comment box 
Type your comment in the comment box and enter your Name, and Email in the fields below. Clicking on Post (unverified) will then post your comment on our website.
Posting comments as a Verified User
Logging in to the commenting system as a Registered User will allow you to rank comments and track your comments on the Disqus website. To log in as a new user click the Options button located under the commenting box
Click on (log in) and the following box will appear.
If you are an existing user enter your Username, Email and Password in the fields provided and click Login.If you are not a registered user click on Register instead and you will see
Enter your email address and choose a Username and Password. Click Register and you will now be logged into the commenting system. Make sure to remember your password. You should also receive an email from disqus.com welcoming you to their service.
Replying to a comment
To reply to an existing comment click on the reply button under the post. A comment box will appear allowing you to respond. If you are logged in simply click the Post button. To post unverified you will first need to enter the requested information (email address and username) . This information will already be filled in for you if you have previouly entered a comment.
Your response will now be appended to to the original comment
Ranking comments
Ranking comments is a way to show if you agree or disagree with the comment.
To rank a comment simply click on the arrows to the left of the post. Up arrow will increase the rank by one. Down arrow will decrease the rank by one. You are only allowed to vote once per comment. Each post has a default rank of 1.
Note: You are only allowed to rank comments if you are logged in to the commenting system.
Sorting comments
To sort all the comments for a story click on the options button
The “Sort thread by” option will appear
You can sort a thread by
- Hot comments
- Best comments
- Newest first
- Oldest first (default)
