Lizzy Mun

Lizzy Mun

Lizzy Mun, the girl who died after being found in an Andover pond, was a poet. The tragedy — summed up in this last story by the Eagle-Tribune — is one of a series of tragedies involving young people  with ties to the region this past week — an 8-week-old baby allegedly shaken and now blind, a young Navy woman shot in the head and the sad story of Lizzy Mun.

Although the circumstances under which this apparently bright and talented young girl died continue to be under investigation, reading a poem she wrote and published in the magazine Teen Voices really puts a human face on this loss. Judging from the magazine’s Web site, it looks like this was published last October:

The Beach
By Lizzy Mun

I sit on down
Looking at the empty shores,
I sit around and wonder what I’ve done.
A crash of the shore brings me back to the crime scene,
When she screamed out for help
And I watched as she suffered.
She waited for that moment while drowning in her sorrows,
That she could let it all go in just one breath.
Now she is gone, an accident so dreary,
I sit here on the beach
And think of my cruelty.
