Despite the fact that their daughter’s former boyfriend is charged with her murder, the family of Caitlin Trask insists their daughter’s death was an accident. WTKR in Virginia is now reporting the accused’s side of the story. Darren Mackie says he was fooling around with his gun and didn’t know it was loaded when it went off, shooting Navy sailor and former girlfriend Caitlin Trask, of North Andover, in the back of the head and killing her.
Straight from the WTKR story:
Mr. Mackie advised that he was playing with his firearm and walked up behind the victim and pointed the weapon at her head and pulled the trigger,” Police Detective J.T. Williams wrote in a criminal complaint on file in Juvenile and Domestic Relations District Court. “He further stated that he did not know the gun was loaded.”
