When the Methuen City Council discusses Mayor Bill Manzi’s proposal to up fines for lighting up a marijuana joint Tuesday, the discussion may have a musical soundtrack. The band Prospect Hill said it will show up to the meeting to protest the proposal. Although the state has decriminalized marijuana use — reducing posession of less than one once to a fineable but not criminal offence — some municiaplities are seeking to increase fines if you’re caught lighting up a joint in a public place.
Should be an interesting discussion — and possibly a free concert.
The band discusses the proposal and their plans to attend in this YouTube video.
UPDATE: Reporter J.J. Huggins just filed his story on the band’s video and Manzi’s reaction.
