Paul Leighton was born in Beverly, grew up in Beverly, lives in Beverly and covers Beverly for The Salem News. He needs to get out of Beverly more, but in the meantime he promises to keep readers up-to-date on what’s going on around the city.
Paul has been a reporter for 25 years, dating back to the days of the old Beverly Times. He served as sports editor of the Beverly Times and then The Salem News before switching over to the news side.
He is a graduate of Beverly High School and Salem State College and served three years in the Army. He coached Little League baseball and YMCA Kiwanis basketball for many years, and this year made a (relatively) triumphant return to the sidelines to coach his oldest daughter’s Y basketball team.
Paul is married to Salem News columnist Susan Flynn. They live in Beverly with their two daughters.
