Will the old Bell Market ever open?
Jul 1st, 2008 by Paul Leighton
Maybe there’s hope. The City Council on Monday approved changes to the parking around the old Bell Market in anticipation of it reopening as Beverly Market. “The owner is hopeful to open soon,” Ward 2 Councilor Wes Slate said.
City Planner Tina Cassidy said the store may be “more of a convenience store” as opposed to a full-service grocery store like Bell’s.
The loading zone in front of the market will be changed to 15-minute parking, and 30-minute parking will be allowed on the Bow Street side. Maureen Troubetaris voted against the change, saying, “It just seems like you’re catering to one business.”

Sorry to see this is going to be another convenience store. I think we have plenty of them now. A nice grocery store would have been a welcome addition to the changes happening in the downtown area

Bring Beverly a Trader Joe’s!!! Preferably one that sells beer and wine! That spot would be perfect if they are truly trying to jazz up that part of Beverly. Although, parking may be an issue…
