Have you noticed these yellow rectangles that look a little bit like bumpy welcome mats on the downtown sidewalks?
Those are known as “truncated domes,” according to Art Daignault, the city’s disabilities coordinator. They’re designed to help visually impaired people be aware that they’re approaching the end of a sidewalk and entering a street.

Deval Patrick has an open invitation to stop by The Sports Connection during his planned visit to Beverly Friday afternoon. The governor is scheduled to make an announcement at 3:30 p.m. at the Beverly Depot, presumably about the MBTA’s plans to build a parking garage.
