Have you noticed these yellow rectangles that look a little bit like bumpy welcome mats on the downtown sidewalks?
Those are known as “truncated domes,” according to Art Daignault, the city’s disabilities coordinator. They’re designed to help visually impaired people be aware that they’re approaching the end of a sidewalk and entering a street.
